Cherry Delight Dessert
The combination of sweet cherry pie filling and the sugar cookie like cake makes this dessert irresistible. A great dish to satisfy any sweet tooth. Our second Simply Sweet Sunday.
Cake:
1 cube melted butter or margarine
1 3/4 cup sugar
4 eggs
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
11/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon almond flavoring
1 20 ounce can cherry pie filling
Glaze:
1 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 tablespoons milk
1/4 teaspoon almond flavoring
1 cup powdered sugar
Mix cake ingredients together (except pie filling). Spread 1/2 of the batter in a greased, 9 x13 pan. Pour pie filling over batter. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter on the pie filling. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Let cool. To make glaze, in a small glass mixing bowl heat margarine and milk in micro wave oven till the margarine is melted. Add almond flavoring. Stir in powdered sugar. Drizzle glaze over the dessert. Enjoy!
