Old Fashion Rice Pudding

Sweet simple goodness of rice pudding just like grandma use to make.  Talk about comfort food.  This sweetness is so simple to make.


4 cups milk (or 2 cups milk and 2 cups half and half)
1 cup sugar
1 cup rice (Jasmine rice is best for this recipe)
1 tablespoon vanilla
cinnamon or nutmeg for garnish
raisins are optional (I don't like raisins)

Mix all the ingredients in a large oven safe bowl.  Bake at 350 for 1 1/2 hours.  Stirring every 30 minutes.  Stir again when done.  Taste to make sure rice is done.  If rice isn't soft, cook another 10-15 minutes.  Pudding will thicken as it cools, if it's not gone first.
